WHICH TYPE OF SUBSTANCE IS USED IN PROLOTHERAPY?

Normally a hypertonic dextrose solution at 15% or 25% combined with a local anaesthetic (lidocaine).

 

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

The local anaesthetic and the use of very small needles make the treatment quite painless and tolerable.

 

CAN ANYONE UNDERGO PROLOTHERAPY?

All those suffering from chronic muscular-skeletric disorders can undergo Prolotherapy.

 

WHICH DISORDERS CAN BE TREATED WITH THIS PROCEDURE?

Cervical, lumbar, spine pathologies can be treated. Peripheral joints can also benefit from this procedure (hips, knees, shoulders, elbows, hands and ankles).

 

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

This much depends on how chronic the disorder is and the gravity of it. Generally, a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 8/10 treatments are needed. If after the maximum number of treatments, no benefits are noticed then diagnosis and therapy must be revised accordingly.

CAN I STILL PRACTICE SPORT AFTER UNDERGOING PROLOTHERAPY?

This varies per the extent of the problem, generally it is best to wait until a week after the treatment.
